A Nebraska native, Nathan LeFeber received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and a Master’s degree in Trombone Performance from the University of Iowa at Iowa City. He has been teaching instrumental music since 2003, most recently at Kearney High School where he has been ‘enriching lives through music’ since 2011. Prior to that, Mr. LeFeber taught band at Beatrice High School and Lincoln Christian School. From 2011-2014, Mr. LeFeber served as Chair of Band Affairs for the Nebraska Music Educators Association and is currently serving as President of the Nebraska chapter of Phi Beta Mu, an honorary band directors fraternity. He has worked as an adjudicator for many high school and middle school music contests as well as serving as a guest conductor for numerous honor bands across the state, including the Class B and Class C All-State bands.
In addition to his teaching schedule, Mr. LeFeber has also performed on trombone with a number of professional ensembles including the Quad City Symphony, Cedar Rapids Symphony, Lincoln Municipal Band, Nebraska Jazz Orchestra, Kearney Symphony Orchestra, Hastings Symphony, Plymouth Brass, Flatwater Jazz Orchestra, and the Kearney Jazz Society. For the past several summers, he has toured Germany with the German/American 12-piece brass ensemble, Eurobrass. Mr. LeFeber is passionate about imparting his love of music, faith, and family into the lives of his students. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Julie, for nearly two decades, and they have 4 children: Evelyn, Sylvia, Abraham, and Mordecai.

Rick Mitchell has been at Kearney High School since 2000 and is an Instrumental Music Instructor and Music Department Chair for Kearney Public Schools. The district utilizes a team teaching concept for instrumental music so Rick works with students in grades 6-12. He is a trumpet player that performs in both the classical and jazz styles and has performed with groups including the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, Dobytown Brass Quintet, Flatwater Jazz Orchestra and the Kearney Symphony Orchestra. He has also been active as a clinician and adjudicator throughout Nebraska. Rick holds a B.M.E from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and an MA in Music Education from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. He lives in Kearney with his wife and two children and has a son studying Saxophone performance at UNL.
Ms. Sydney Wilson
Sydney L. Wilson is a K-12 Music Education major at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She is currently student teaching at Kearney High School and is involved in the UNK Wind Ensemble. She has also been a part of the UNK New Music Ensemble, Choraleers, Pride of the Plains Marching Band, and student conductor of the UNK Symphonic Band. She is also a member of Kappa Kappa Psi and the UNK Honors Program during her time at UNK. She previously has performed in the 2018 UNK New Music Festival with Dr. Amanda DeBoer Bartlett, at the 2019 NSBA Convention with the UNK Wind Ensemble, and as a soloist in the 2019 NMEA Collegiate Recital. She has also performed in Eastern Europe with the Nebraska Ambassadors of Music in 2017 and in Ireland in 2019 with the Pride of the Plains Marching Band.
