Call to Order by President Judy Meyer at 7:36pm
Welcome given by Judy and new board is introduced.
Minutes from May meeting: motion was made by Tammy Duncan to accept the report, second was made by Deb Gibbs. Motion was approved.
Treasurer’s report was given by Marlene Lentfer. She explained how report and budget is laid out, fund raising accounts, turf fund: motion was made by Karen Shultz to accept the report, second was made by Steve Shanno. Motion was approved.
Old Business
Nancy Warren reported on the Duck Race Fundraiser. Nancy will double check records with Marlene Lentfer. There will be no more duck races.
Marlene Lentfer reported on Chataqua in June. Not a well attended function or profitable fundraiser. Kids only earned $5.33 an hour.
Cruise Night Concessions: Turned out well kids made $13.83 an hour. We had a great location. Would like Freshman or Sophmore parents chair this for next summer.
Cat Cards- Rick Mitchell discussed the discount card sales and recommended kids do pre-sale orders. September 24th estimated card sales.
Butterbraids are being handled by Sheryl Hansen. They will be sold after NSBA and deliverd before Thanksgiving.
Stadium Clean up – Marlene reported, almost too many people at first game will need to limit it to 18-20 people for most efficiency and profitability for the participants.
Tammy explained all the sign-ups that were sent around and discussed UNK Concessions and Basketball Concessions.
Jeanne Thorn reported on SunMart Fundraiser – very low sales compared to past, kids only made $4.42 per hour per person. We need to investigate this more thoroughly in the future to decide whether we do it. Jeanne will provide a report on ideas to improve the event in the future.
Turf Fund reported on by Marlene Lentfer, $10,660 has been raised so far. Band Parents pledged $20K over 3 years. Board needs some brain storming by parents to raise the balance this year. Marlene pointed out the Band Parents do not charge membership dues. Rick explained what the turf fund is.
Online Bear Car Store- explained by Ed Uden, 10-17% of sales are paid in commissions to Band for the turf fund. Anyone interested in taking over and updating?
Uniforms: Tammy Duncan talked about checking for items, items are labeled and identified per student. Be sure to pants are hemmed properly and have your kids check for missing gauntlet.
Pride Buttons, parent shirts final orders have to be in by Friday September 14th. Caps are backordered at this time.
Yard signs still available $5 each, need to sell 20 more to break even.
New Business
Senior Band Flags – need sign up for someone to chair
Newspaper/publicity – we are in need of someone to head this up and get our concerts and special events in the Hub. Mike Combs a lead.
Class Representatives – 3 to 4 per class for assisting in phone tree for cancellations and special announcements
Christmas Wrap – Jeanne Thorne is looking for someone to co-chari or chair the fundraiser, it will be at the Mall and we have the week before Christmas.
Tailgate/Exhibition Performance: Need a Chair person. Aaron Svoboda explained it is a performance only to celebrate and have fun before NSBA on the 19th.
Directors’ Comments
Mr Svobada Praised kids for hard work, new system of practice and the difference it is making. Mr Svobada also discussed the LA trip, deposit deadlines, payment schedule and some of the site seeing schedule. Praised this years leadership.
Mr. Mitchell Praised kids, he loves his job and thankful for it. He wants to stress how important involvement is and rewarding.
Dates to Remember were pointed out and briefly discussed. Lincoln is at new field – Beachner. NSBA is in Omaha at Millard South.
Question came to Board regarding a fundraising opportunity at First Tier Event center. There are 30 home games and we could be paid $250 for clean up, the Event Center provides, gloves, brooms, liners, and recyclable containers. Board will check with administration since alcohol containers maybe touched by kids.
Rob Carter motioned for meeting to be adjourned, seconded by Colleen Brill. Approved.
