After discussion it was decided that the students should have an opportunity to sign up so they can also participate in fund raising. The sign-up sheet will be available to them through the band directors. An adult must be present in the booth.
  • Runza Night will be Tuesday, January 6th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with the Band Parents meeting beginning at 7:30. Director Comments

  • The next concert will be held Dec 11th. Mr. Mitchell requested that parents encourage their students to practice and ask if they are articulating the music properly. Freshman and sophomores will be required to perform music scales soon.
  • The pep band dates for December will begin on the 13th. There will be no performances on the 19th and 20th as families may be heading out of town for the holidays. The students will be assigned to 1 of 2 groups and the performance dates will be posted on the website soon.
  • Mr. Svoboda is on the Facility Steering Committee and is encouraging parents to contact him with comments, questions or concerns regarding renovation of KHS or building a new school. Feedback will be shared with the school board.
  • Sugar Bowl-Dec 2009. In order to determine the cost of the trip the number of people planning on attending will need to be gathered soon. From there the number of buses will be reserved. A security deposit has locked our costs in at the 2008 prices. Estimates are $700 to 900 per person.
  • Concert Critiques are required and part of the student’s grade- 1 per term (2 per semester).
  • Brock Persson has been selected for the UNL Winter Winds Festival
  • Pictures of the music groups will be taken soon for the yearbook and are also available for purchase.

Parents Comments or Questions

  • A question was asked about a previously discussed form for fuel sponsorship (marching band rental truck). Discussion included needing to figure out a format and that this would be addressed.
  • Questions were asked regarding how to find out how much money is earned for the student’s accounts with the different fundraisers. Estimates based on past years performances are approximately $15.00/hr for concessions and $6.00/hr for the gift wrap. It was emphasized that the BB concessions are based on sales and that attendance will affect the dollars/hr earned. Butter Braid sales were encouraged as the amount earned is per item sold. Catalog sales were also mentioned as a possible way to earn funds. Mr. Mitchell shared that each school organization is limited by the school board to 1 catalog/product sale per year. Shawna Skaggs, Treasurer may be contacted for the individual student’s account amount.

Adjournment

  • Marlene Lentfer motioned to adjourn; Scott Lentfer 2nd, the motion was carried.
