The meeting was called to order by President Matt Bamesberger.
Welcome to all. There were 26 members in attendance.
Reading of Minutes
- The minutes from November were reviewed. Motion to approve by Ronda Jaeschke and 2nd by Mike Young.
Treasurer’s Report
- The Treasurer’s Report was presented by Shawna Skaggs and filed. Sandy Christensen resigned for personal reasons and we thank her for her service. Shawna has agreed to assume the Treasurers position. Progress on the annual audit was addressed. The banking transactions are completed and the student accounts are now in review. Students have not returned all of the Cat Card monies. Monies or cards need to be returned to the Directors to close out this fundraiser.
Committee Reports
- NAPA Auto Care Vehicle Health Check fundraiser for the instrument fund-sales did not go well despite advertising by chair Seandra Foryth and George Quinn (NAPA) via radio and tv plus letter writing by Pres-elect Ronda Jaeschke to area businesses. Currently, only 6 out of 100 kits have been sold with 14 kits (3 people) needing to be returned. Next year NAPA will probably look at a different organization for a community fundraiser.
- Stadium clean-up/Concession Stand-there was plenty of help for the stadium clean up and the time slots for the BB concession stand are filled. This year families are allowed 6 time slots per student for concessions. Per guidelines, a student with 4 parents is allowed a total of 6 slots and not 12. Matt B. shared the board is hoping that next year’s sign-up will include the student/s involved so it won’t be confusing for the chairs. More time slots will be offered for any district games held at KHS.
- Gift wrap-(Nov. 29th-Dec. 5th) chairs Tiffany Young and Marci Ochsner reported total returns of $513.61 or $2.63/hour. The returns were felt to be low this year due to the band changing our assigned week last year to earlier in the month (New Orleans trip-Sugar Bowl) so those monies were available to the students for the trip. Additionally, too many time slots were offered for the mall traffic that early in the month. A question was asked if Black Friday plus the weekend following might be available to wrap gift. Michelle Heilkmann, Marketing Director of the Hilltop Mall is considering splitting the gift wrapping between more groups then just the current four as they are a community business and have other groups interested in gift wrapping for fundraising too. Also, mentioned was past fundraising returns from the Viero Event Center hockey game clean-up and to check to see if this might be offered again.
Old Business
- Senior Flags-volunteers needed to re-build the stands. Also need a parent to chair for next year.
- Spirit items-we have an extra medium-sized long sleeve band parent t-shirt for $15.00. Please contact Ronda Jaeschke for purchase. Shawna Skaggs has one medium-sized senior t-shirt available for $8.00. A visor with a new design was passed around for review. It will be added to next season’s apparel.
New Business
- Canned Food Drive – will be held in conjunction with the Dec. 9th concert and will be donated to a local food pantry.
- Big Band Dance-Robbie Samuelson offered to chair. It will be held Friday, Febr. 4th at Sunrise Middle School from 7-10 pm. This is an opportunity for community members to dance to the sounds of the big bands and the tickets sold support enrichment opportunities for the jazz students. Desserts, coffee and tea are offered for purchase. The band parents provide the desserts and have the opportunity to volunteer and work a shift (fundraiser) to serve concessions. Students sell tickets and help decorate. Sign-up sheets will circulate at the Jan. meeting.
- Runza Night Out Fundraiser – band officer to check with Tim Higgins. Held at Runza South with Runza donating a percentage of the sales over 3 hours. In previous years’ Runza Night Out’ and the Jan. band parents meeting were held together at Runza South. Last year ‘Runza Night Out’ was held separately from the meeting due the noise level. A question was asked if the amount donated last year was less compared to the previous meetings held at the restaurant. It was felt that the returns last year were comparable to other years.
- Bylaws and Constitution review-will need 6-7 people to help with review over 3 month period. Recommendations should be forwarded to an officer.
Director’s Comments
- The directors were not able to be here this evening. The pep band schedule has been posted. Students are assigned to a blue or gold team and are required to perform a certain number of times plus two additional. This is part of the lettering requirements.
Parent Questions
- Are students to wear their uniforms for concerts? Yes. Color Guard members will be instructed by the Directors on what they are to wear. All others will wear uniforms.

- There being no more questions or comment Seandra Foryth motioned to adjourn and Pam Thomas seconded with all in agreement.
