Meeting was called to order by President Jolene Berke.
The meeting began with Mr. LeFeber introducing a representative from Midland University in Fremont. Wade Kellett with the Railmen Drum & Bugle Corp came to our meeting to provide information on their Marching Arts Camp this summer. He explained the camp and provided ways to contact him in Fremont for more information. This would be a great opportunity for any students wishing to attend.
Copies of the minutes were available via email blast and paper copies at the door. A motion to approve the minutes was made by Marci Ochsner, second by Shanda Kincaide. The minutes were approved.
Treasurer’s Report from Brent Meyer: Checking $12,756.13, Scrip Account $694.94, Student Accounts $14,689.31, Savings Account $4,790.21. Reminder that the final Chicago trip payment of $240 was due April 1. Please see Brent or Jan to make payments from student accounts.
Trip update: about $1200 to collect from students yet for the trip. The travel company is completely paid and we only have the polos yet to pay.
Band Banquet: We spent about $1200 for food and received about $900 in donations. Is some credit due for some unused food.
We are now non-profit approved through the post office for purchasing stamps for our mailings. Our income for the year is about $1700 more than budgeted and our expenses are going to be about $500 more than budgeted. We will come out slightly ahead for our fiscal year.
Reminder that we will begin using Charms Band Management System this year. Parents & students will have more access to things such as student accounts & information. Things such as instrument serial numbers and uniform numbers will also be recorded and available. There is the capability for an online store. The directors and treasurer will be working over the summer to have this ready to roll for marching season.
Old Business
Volunteers – There are still opportunities for volunteers for the coming year. Immediate need is for water chair during marching season, Cruise Night and UNK Football concessions. Shanda Kincaide volunteered to head up UNK Football concessions again. Karen Premer has agreed to chair Cruise Night.
Alexis McNeal asked if we would like to have a fundraiser car wash on Cruise Night Day. Proceeds would go to the drumline or other designated fund. She will look into doing this.
New Business
Election of officers for the 2014-15 year were held. Kelly Taylor was nominated as Treasurer Elect and accepted the nomination. There were no other nominations. Vote was taken and approved for Kelly Taylor to be our new Teasurer Elect. Alexis McNeal was nominated as President Elect and accepted the nomination. There were no other nominations. Vote was taken and approved for Alexis McNeal to be our new President Elect. The Executive Board for the 2014-15 school year will be:

Quarter Notes will be going out the beginning of July. Please verify that your address is correct with the main office. If there are non-custodial parents who need to receive information, please let us know that as well.
Volunteer form: District Policy states that all volunteers need to fill out a volunteer form. This form is just a formality and shows that our organization is willing to work with the district and follow the procedures set forth. This is if you anticipate having any contact with students (bus sponsors, band camp volunteers, band trip chaperones, etc). This is supposed to be a one and done form rather than something to be done each year.
Summer fundraising: Scrip is offering a new option My Scrip Wallet. You may purchase electronic gift cards from your mobile phone. May 12 is Bank Scripping Day where you can earn lots of extra bonuses. Physical scrip cards will be stopped over the summer, but ScripNow is always available.
Amazon Smile is also available now. It is another way to earn as you buy online and add to our general fund.
Directors
New leadership process was kind of cool and the team for next year has been selected. Kids were made to do the application, complete a resume, interview someone on campus and open forum.
Pacific Crest Drum Corp will be in town on their way to the drum corp competition in Omaha. They will arrive in the wee hours of July 13 and will be practicing all day on that day. Looking into organizing a trip to Omaha for the competition on Monday, July 14.
Shrine Parade: We have contacted the organizers and have not heard back from them, so we will not be participating this year.
Advocacy: The KBPA advocacy has helped to bring things to the table including the design of the auditorium at the new school and now schedules. There is discussion again about scheduling and how to best accommodate all students.
Chicago Trip: There will be a DVD memory mate available (something new). Everyone will have a chance to upload photos and a DVD will be produced and given to all trip participants. This is something new that the travel company is doing. Mandatory meeting will be held on May 21 at 4:45 which will include a performance, lots of information and also a behavior policy contract. Keep watching the blog. Anyone wanting to use student accounts money for per diem please send an email to the treasurer. Cash will be handed out at the mandatory meeting. Polos will also be handed out at the meeting.
May concert will be Friday, May 9 at Yanney Park. Weather looks good at this time. Musicalia will be May 16 at the auditorium beginning at 7:00.
Will also be doing some cool things including some recording projects at school yet. Instrument check-in will be done after the trip (right at the end of school if they are not going). We have hired a drill writer from Arkansas do the show this year. He will be coming to Kearney during band camp to work with the kids. Band camp info is on the website.
The suggestion was made to place an ad in the paper to congratulate the kids on the job well done this year. Would be nice if we could get something in this week to congratulate as well as advertise the Yanney concert & Musicalia. A motion was made by Lori Koeppe to put an ad in the paper costing up to $500 to congratulate the KHS bands for accomplishments this year, second by Karen Premer. Motion carried.
Next meeting will be held Tuesday, September 2 at 7:30 in the band room.
