Photo booth was a big hit but only one is necessary for next year instead of two.  Misha Eilers will be chair next year. Many people shared and posted about the event on Facebook. Papa Murphy’s sales during the month of Dec 25% of proceeds go towards students. In February we will do Casey’s cards 50% of $25 cards go to the band. Sonic will maybe do cards maybe as well, possibly $5 cost for $45 value.

Huge thank you to all the parents during this marching season, and especially to our chairpersons. Today Mr. LeFeber was awarded Employee of the Month! Last Saturday 8 students performed with Doane Honor Band.  This coming Thursday 6 students will go to Concordia, Wednesday is UNO Brass Day and they have an honor brass quintet which Rebecca Nebbe (trombone) will perform in. Saturday is Veterans Day Parade with a call time of 10:30am, meeting at 23rd and A Ave. The parade route will be from The Mona to Railroad St and will end at the parking lot across from The Golden Spoon. Chamber winds played for a tailgate party at CHI. Brass quintet will play at CCC for Veterans Day. Large selection of lost and found items from marching band season can be claimed in the band room. Anything not claimed by Friday will be donated.

Nathan LeFeber

The post NSBA meeting was fun and lighthearted as everyone shared stories from the event. We appreciate everyone’s help. LeFeber attended a final football game in a neighboring town and noticed a lack of quality displayed in several areas.  He expressed how grateful he is to be a part of the Kearney band and how appreciative he is of all the help Kearney High Band receives from the band parents.

LeFeber requested $10,000 for a whole new drumline. He noted it’s been roughly 20 years since new drumline equipment has been purchased. The cost was around $12,000 back then, and is close to  $30,000 now. He started a fundraising campaign and has received $5,000 from Class Act (have to use these funds by January) and $2,500 from Klinkacek foundation. He has had conversations with school board members and believes if he presents what he has raised between those two community organizations and KBPA, that the school board will be more inclined to cover the remaining difference.

Consider a motion for $10,000 from KBPA towards a new drumline.
