Treasurer Update
a. General Fund – $24,653.26
Student Accounts – $30,710.15
Online account – $10,265.03
b. 3 mo CD $10,000 and 6 mo CD $5,000
c. $13,788 on KCards side – one parent noted that he received feedback about checks taking awhile to process.
d. Fall concessions will be deposited with Spring concessions as soon as basketball season concludes.
e. Form is live for payment to be transferred from MMO to band trip.

4. Committee Reports

  • Uniforms / Roadies – old uniforms will be cleaned by the SPED students and a couple of parents will be making some mementos/keepsakes with some of them to sell. We will still sell the majority of the uniforms. $100K was provided from school and the KPS Foundation kicked in the remaining $115K. Uniforms may not be here by the 1st week of band camp but should be here by the time the school starts. New shoe design will also be available if they choose to purchase them, but the old shoes will still match.
  • Concessions – see below under volunteers.
  • Band Banquet Chair: Karen Mast/Craig Chamberlin
  • Big Band Night: Lora Litrell/Elizabeth Walters- student volunteers

5. Volunteer Needed

  • Concessions: continue to look for sign up genius through the spring. 2/7 and 2/10
  • NSBA Concert Band Day in April on the 2nd- Heidi V, in need of a co-coordinator for this year that will take over next year. Need a judges coordinator for the 1st half the day – help setting up stations, meals, etc. We also need a volunteer check in person and a hospitality liaison. Preferably need adult volunteers for these roles. Sign up genius will be out very soon.
  • Band Banquet- will need volunteers to help set up
  • Big Band Night- will need volunteers to work
  • Officer recruitment: need officers for next year: president-elect, treasurer elect, and a media chair.
  • Trailer Wrap removal – may be able to use a local facility but still need our own volunteers.

6. Fundraising

  • Soup and Pie Supper Update, Totals: Total raised- $517 (2025- $498, 2024- $501, 2023-$260; 2022-$460)
  • Senior Graduation Seats – will open April 2nd-30th. Raffle for 8 seats right up front.
  • March/April Raffle – Beef Raffle March 2nd – 31st.

7. Old Business

8. New Business

  • Trip update – New itinerary with a little more detail will be up on the website soon.
  • Congrats to LeFeber-Nate Metschke Outstanding Mid-Career Director Award
  • Senior Scholarship opportunities- see announcements – Kearney Arts Council, Kearney Band Parents-Feb 3 opens,, NSBA
  • Music Purchase – The band has a subscription to a program called Make Music, offering thousands of opportunities and teachings, which helps the kids. The speakers the directors are using in the practice rooms need to be replaced and the directors have asked us for $2,000 for this.

  • Directors want to purchase a piece of music to feature two tuba players that are brothers. Requesting the fees for the royalties, which is $520, to be covered by the KBPA.

9. Director’s Comments

Mitchell

  • We are in the middle of honor band season. Several students have participated in various honor bands learning new things and making great music.
  • Color guard auditions are coming up.
  • Working on getting the calendar set for next year.
    Band camp dates are Week 1: June 25th and 26th, then June 29th – July 1st. Week 2 August 3rd – 7th.
  • Mr. Mitchell has been nominated to be President for NSBA.
  • Last year Mr. Mitchell visited a K-12 school in El Salvador. He is starting an initiative to collect instruments to send to these kids in El Salvador to keep them involved in school activities.

LeFeber

  • Kearney Area Arts council will be sponsoring a singer in Paris to come to the Big Band Dance and Perform. She will come work with the kids for a couple of days at the high school prior to the dance. The theme for the dance will be a Night in Paris.
  • Concert in March will be fun, we are playing a big piece that is 25 minutes long, a dedication to D-Day. All the bands on the stage at the same time and other bands from local schools have been invited.
  • Marching shows are in discussion for next year. Like a Moth to a Flame. Will be meeting with a design team next week to see if we will go this direction.
  • Band Banquet May 9th potluck around noonish. Parent volunteers will help set up and serve the potluck, decorate, etc.
