General Meeting Minutes – May 2009

Call to order by President Ed Uden
Welcome to all attending
Minutes from the April 7th 2009 meeting were reviewed. A motion was made by Arlyn Hinrichs and second by Diane Keiter to approve the minutes and the motion was carried.

Shawna Skaggs gave the report. Currently, the account shows a balance of $41,001.54. A payment of $600.00 was made to lock in bus prices for the trip to New Orleans. A 2009 senior donated their remaining account funds to the Scholarship and Hardship funds. This means we will now have 5 scholarships to award this year- 2 from the Association, 2 from senior donations and 1 that was not used last year from the ‘Sunshine Travel Scholarship’. The B-ball and Stadium Clean-up funds have been received and are distributed to the individual accounts. Marlene Lentfer made a motion to accept the report and was 2nd by Wendy Kreis. Motion carried.

Tammie Duncan said the Seniors could turn in their uniforms after Thursday nights concert. Underclassmen may turn in their uniforms the 11th.

Election of Officers for 2009-2010-no nominations were made for Secretary or Treasurer-elect. Matt Bamesberger was nominated for President-elect and voted in.
Band Banquet is on Saturday, May 9th in the school gym. Anyone wanting to help set-up and decorate can come about 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
Contact Ed uden if you are interested in joining the By-Laws update/review group. They will meet this summer.
A sign-up sheet was circulated for helpers with the Band Camp. It will be held Aug 3-7. Contact Matt Bamesberger with any questions.
Cruise Night is July 18th-contact Judy Meyer with questions if you’d like to help with that.
We need a chair person for the Christmas Gift Wrap-the mall will need to be contacted early.
Diane Keiter said she would be in charge of the Band Parent Shirts and Pride Buttons again next year.
Jim Payne will help get the Ice Cream Social started that is at the end of Band Camp.

Deli International could be sold during Band Camp.
Wendy Kreis suggested a Gumbo recipe cook off.
Robbie Samuelson said we are on the list for the Fair Board meeting next week to talk about concessions at the Buffalo County Fair this summer.
Lisa Meseure discussed ideas on holding a work auction. Students could auction off by small groups or two’s to do some jobs like painting, yard work etc. Would probably give 1 month to get things done.

Mr. Svoboda said we got lower prices on the buses for the trip then originally thought. If someone wants to fly down versus ride the buses (then meet up with the group for the rest of the trip) it will be $150.00 less than the package price and they set up their own flight. No ala-carte for the trip.
The Seniors in Symphonic Band, even though it is the end of the school year, have remained focused and continue to be good leaders.
The lettering policy changed this year-it was in the handbook given to each student at the beginning of the year. They must have 10 points more than just going to the pep bands.
Mr. Mitchell thanked everyone who helped with District Music Contest-it went very smoothly. A Concert Critique must be turned in each term. Next year’s marching program will have a “jazz theme” to go with the trip next winter.

With no further comments, Robbie Samuelson motioned to adjourn and Arlyn Hinrichs 2nd. The motion was carried.
