Meeting was called to order at 5:30pm by Alexis McNeal. Jennifer Welkers was to lead the meeting tonight, but due to a family emergency she was unable to attend. Alexis asked if there were any changes to the minutes needed. No changes needed the minutes were approved as written for the April meeting.
Corinne Harre gave the Treasurer’s report. Total deposits were $31,992.72 for the general fund. Total checks written were $29,357.55. Bank balance for the general fund is $26,921.67 which balanced to the bank statement. There is $17,909.08 in the student accounts which also balances to the bank statement. Reviewed the script breakdown which showed $572.38 was brought in from June 16, 2015 through April 27, 2016. A handout was created regarding the per diem for the New York City trip. It was shown through detailed calculations that $297.00 would be the most a student could take out of their student accounts for the trip. Corinne explained the policy about per diem as the money was raised with the intention that it be used for band expenses. As Seniors graduate the money gets transferred to siblings, the general fund or the hardship fund. Need to request money for the NYC trip by May 13th.
Alexis talked about the concert coming up at Yanney Park and the need for volunteers to pass the bucket for donations. She also talked about the Senior Banquet. Seniors need to bring their flags for the event.
Alexis McNeal announced there are two nominations for next year’s Executive Committee. President-Elect is Eva Linn and Treasurer-Elect is Leah Beckenhaur. Current President-Elect Jennifer Welkers will become President, Linda Johnson current Treasurer-Elect will become Treasurer and Patti Bennett will remain Secretary as that is a two year position. Alexis asked for any further nominations for the open positions. Given none the nominations ceased. Alexis asked for a motion to approve the two nominations. There was a motion by Corinne Harre and second by Patti Bennett to approve the nominations and all approved. Moved to elect the entire slate. There was a motion by Trina Shaw to approve the entire slate, second by Ed Uden and all approved.
Mr. Mitchell – Thank you to Corinne for her hard work during this busy school year with all the income and expenses associated with the NYC trip. District music contest was April 23rd. There were 25 of 27 entries who received a superior rating. There was a letter that went out to parents whose students are on the leadership team next year regarding a meeting. The meeting is only for the students to attend. All-state next year includes 9th graders and the music is available on the NMEA.org website.
Mr. Lefeber – Thank you to Corinne and the rest of the Executive Committee. The concert is still scheduled for Yanny Park and the backup in case of weather is the auditorium. The band students need to arrive at 6:00pm and the concert is at 6:30pm. Broadway music will be featured to go along with the NYC theme. Be sure to check the website/blog for new details regarding teh NYC trip. All NYC related information will be there. Band camp dates are now on the website as well. Band camp will be at the new high school so plan accordingly. Parade dates will be given out as soon as possible. If students want to go to the soft opening of the school they can and then go to band camp afterwards.
A parent asked if students who did not get to play at districts could be able to play at nursing homes instead.
Volunteers – We need a co-chair for the stadium clean-up and basketball concessions to work with Kellee Heard.
