Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 6:34 pm by President Eva Linn. Ed Uden motioned approval of last month minutes, Sharon Johnson second.
Treasurer’s Report
Leah Beckenhauer gave financial report and reconciliations.
- Savings – $16,069.47
- Checking – $36,754.55
- Scrip – $523.63
Scrip – is purchasing gift cards and money value is given back to the band. Specials are available now for the holidays. More information can be found on kearneybands.org/. A step by step guide is available to help you sign up. Anyone can use this. When using AmazonSmile.com a percentage will go to the band.
General Business
First basketball concession is December 16th we play against Grand Island, it is also Alumni night. A Sign Up Genius will be sent out for volunteers.
Branson trip next payment is due January 19th ($300) and March 16th (balance of trip). We are missing some down payments. Please turn in to reserve your spot.
Give Where you Live: Money received will be used to purchase pink plumes for band to wear on Kearney Tackles Cancer night. Plumes cost $10.00 each. The giving event starts December 7th.
Senior flags will be hanging in the gym during basketball games.
January 9th at 6:30 pm will be a Social time to visit with 8th grade band parents, provide information, review volunteer work, etc.
Uniforms are to be turned in December 15th. DO NOT HAVE THEM PRESSED. Make sure all belongings are removed from bags.
Director’s Notes
Mr. Mitchell gave a recap of the Jazz Festival on December 4th with MAYJO. Results are coming in from Honor Band tryouts. We have 29 students accepted to play at UNK Honor Band on January 22nd. Other honor bands are: UNL Honor Band January 19-21, UNO Honor Band January 26-28. December 12th and 14th Christmas Music Concert at 7:00 pm.
Mr. LaFeber announced that a special guest will perform at the Spring concert. They will play a duet with Mr. LaFeber. The music is distributed for student to tryout for Wind Ensemble placement for next year. The deadline for tryouts is January 5th, 2018.
Sign up in Charms so you receive information about the band events and volunteer information, fundraising. Go to www.charmsoffice.com to sign up. Also check the band website kearneybands.org/ for the latest news. The Quarternotes, handbooks, and contact info are all on the website. Make sure you are receiving information so there are no surprises.
