We found the best route is Kearney to Columbus to Yankton to Vermillion.
Google maps will try take you cross country from Norfolk to Vermillion, but our team found this route to be less favorable.
2025:
Kearney will be competing in the Quad State Marching Competition at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion, SD on Oct. 18, 2025.
We load hat bags and buses at 6:00 am at KHS and depart at 6:30 am with an 8:30 stop at Columbus HS, and arrive in Vermillon, SD by 11:00 am.
Pit Trailers park in area B on the Northeast side of the Dome. The Buses will park in lots 36W or 39W to the South of the Sports Complex. Look for our blue trailer, that’s the best I can recommend until we get there – or call Ed. Once we get our staging area established, we will determin when we will unload the trailers and prep for the Band’s warmup and performance. Warmup time is TBD at this point.
The competition field is in the Dakota Dome ( 1101 N. Dakota St. Vermillion, SD 57069). Our warmup time is TBD and we perform at 3:20 pm. After our performance, we will load up the trailers. Awards are at 4:20 pm and at 5:00 pm we leave for Kearney. We will have a dinner stop at 7:30 in Albion at the Albion HS Football field and then arrive about 11:00 pm.
Please be sure to sign up on the Sign Up Genius (see below on the Band website for links). We need to know who will be there so we are sure to have sufficient help. We will need bus sponsors to help with the trees. The ramp down into the dome is steep enough, and the turf on the field adds to the work to move equipment.
