2024 KHS Underclass Honor Band

The mission of the KHS Underclassmen Honor Band is to provide a quality honor band experience to those freshmen and sophomores who may not otherwise get a chance to participate in this sort of event.

This year’s UHB will happen on Monday January 15th, 2024 at the Concert Hall and Theater at Kearney High School, and will include a Wind Ensemble and a Symphonic Band. The clinicians this year will be Dr. Louie Eckhart from Hastings College and Chiyo Trauernicht from Central High School in Omaha, NE.

There is no audition, only director nomination.

Band Director Instructions

You are allowed to nominate up to 6 wind players and 2 percussionists. Please nominate your best students in grades 9 & 10 so that we can have outstanding ensembles. There is a $30 fee for students that are selected to participate. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THAT DATE BEFORE YOU NOMINATE THEM.

Please read through the Directors Instruction Letter, as it contains an explanation of the nomination process.

You will fill out this short form for each student you are nominating. There is a separate link for winds and percussion. All nominations need to be submitted in this way by WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 15th. This will ensure that the results and music will be to you before Christmas Break.
